Northrim’s Home Builders Bring Home the Gold Hammers

Anchorage-based home builders showed off their recently completed homes during the Anchorage Home Builders Association’s annual Parade of Homes in mid-September. Judges and the public toured the properties and voted for their favorites in a number of categories and price ranges and the winners were honored at an awards banquet hosted by Builders Millwork Supply.

The winning projects were dominated by the builders who are financed by Northrim Bank. Six of the eight top awards, each receiving the coveted Gold Hammer Award, were given to Northrim-financed builders, including the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

“We say it all the time, Northrim is the leader in construction lending and we have the best builders in the state as our customers,” Northrim's Construction Lending Manager Tara Tetzlaff said.

The properties on display, and vying for awards, ranged from a condominium listed at $194,400 to a custom home listed at $859,900. All of the entries are located in Anchorage, Eagle River, and Girdwood.

A panel of judges visited each property to score the homes in categories that included Best Design, Best Exterior, Best Interior, Best Kitchen, and Best Overall Workmanship. Based on the judging in these categories, the recipient of the Gold Hammer Award was identified. The public also got a say, and their votes determined the winner of the People’s Choice Award. There were 23 homes in this year’s Parade of Homes.

Northrim builders who received a Gold Hammer Award include Cody Homes in the $190-$240K Multi-family category; Spinell Homes in the $260-$290K Multi-family category; Hagmeier Homes in the $440-$500K Single-family category; and Merit Homes in both the $510-$530K, and the $590-$600K Single-family categories. The People’s Choice Award was given to Harding Homes.

The Parade of Homes recognizes the achievements of local builders and showcases innovations in building, new home features, and local trends. For those not in the home buying mood, the Parade of Homes offers a great opportunity to get some decorating ideas, and to see the latest trends in building design, appliances, colors, and layouts. If nothing else, the Parade offers great inspiration for that “dream home to own someday” or the motivation to get going on that home renovation project.
