Northrim Bank Makes a Major Investment in UA’s Three Universities

A major, long-time supporter of the University of Alaska system, Northrim Bank, has gifted $259,500 to fund UA initiatives that advance research about Alaska’s economy and fiscal policy, expand business education and build entrepreneurship capacity. Northrim’s donation also includes funding to five community campuses where Northrim employees live and work.

Northrim Bank Funds University Investment Platform

Alaska Pacific University (APU) continues to host a Bloomberg Terminal on campus, thanks to a grant from Northrim Bank. Popularized in the ‘80s, the Bloomberg Terminal is a key tool for business and finance leaders, allowing APU students to develop direct skills in global investing and financial literacy as they manage real-time transactions on behalf of the university. The terminal provides access to stock listings and company profiles, displayed on an array of monitors in a business lab at APU’s Grant Hall.

Michael Martin Youth & Sport Development Endowment Fund Announced

Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage (NSAA) and Northrim Bank are honored to announce a new endowment for the benefit of Alaska youth skiing in memory of the late Michael Martin, Northrim Bank’s Chief Operating Officer who passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 11, 2021.

Northrim Receives Affordable Housing, SBA Honors

Northrim Bank is proud to announce two recent recognitions. Northrim Bank was presented with the Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award by the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition. This annual award recognizes outstanding affordable housing developments and organizations that have demonstrated especially impactful use of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and was given to the organizations for their involvement in the Coronado Park II/Qintali View project. Participants included Cook Inlet Housing Authority, R4 Capital, Northrim Bank, The Rasmuson Foundation, and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. Award recipients were recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, DC, with members of Congress representing winning properties invited to present the awards.

Northrim Bank is Alaska's leading PPP lender

Northrim Bank’s participation in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) assisted customers and the community during a very challenging time. The Bank was one of the first financial institutions in Alaska to offer PPP loans to non-customers as well as existing customers. Employees throughout the bank worked to create streamlined processes that leveraged existing technology and allowed the process to be handled in-house, by Northrim employees. More than two-thirds of the Bank’s employees worked on some aspect of the project. Over the past year, Northrim has produced 5,000 PPP loans, totaling $580 million, which accounts for approximately 30% of all PPP loans made in Alaska.
